Scans of Mystery Tales 40 comic as seen on Lost - Page 4

Scan of the Mystery Tales 40 comic from Lost - Page 4A couple of days later than we announced (sorry about that again), here's the fourth page of the comic book, the last one of the Hidden Land story. At last we can share this with you and talk about the similarities with the show. I know it's not much but it's doing this to have our minds busy or getting crazy waiting for the season finale.

By the way, if you've not read the previous page be sure you read them first. Then, read today's page (on the right) before going on with this post, as we'll talk about some things to highlight:

  • Fred, the story's main character, is wrapped in the kind of black smoke we saw on the third page, and as a result of that he's teleported to the Tibet, presumably in another point in time than the story until now.
  • Looks like the dark and shadowy people that chased him are from an ancient civilization who created (or previously owned) the ring.
  • The leader of this civilization tells Fred the ring has amazing powers than allowed his boss to achieve an outstanding financial success, despite its lack of happiness (like the numbers, maybe?).
  • The ring has to go back to its owners, as they plan to give it to man kind at some point in the future, when men are pure at heart, so they can benefit from its powers.

The ending of the story arises some questions:

  • Did the Lost creators based somehow the island's ancient civilization (remember the foot statue) on the one from the comic?
  • Has some kind of relationship the appearance of the Tibet in the comic with the several mentions of Buddhism in Lost (Richard Alpert ritual with young Locke or the final word of the Dharma Initiative videos)?
  • Is Jack chaotic and unhappy future an effect of leaving the island with something that doesn't belong to him (Aaron)?

I guess we'll have to wait and see for the season finale this Thursday to get answers to some of these questions. I don't know about you but I'm running out of nails!

We're sorry guys, but the fourth and final page of The Hidden Land story from the comic book won't be uploaded until tomorrow. The guy who has all the scans is -believe it or not- in Russia right now and we've been unable to reach him. Damn company gifts!

We just wanted to apologize publicly for this, as we know a lot of people are really anticipating the ending of the story.

Scan from the Mystery Tales 40 comic - Page 3Here's the third page of "The Hidden Land" story from the Mystery Tales 40 comic book as seen on Lost 4x11 Cabin Fever.

Pretty much at the end of the story we have some more interesting facts similar somehow to details of the show's plot:

  • The ring on Mr. Castin's office gives power to whoever has it, like the island from Lost.
  • The dark characters may be "The Others", who don't want Fred (Locke?) to own, control and use the ring.
  • Those "Others" have also the power of summoning a kind of black smoke that makes travelling through time and space possible.

I don't know about you but the more we know about this story, the more we find interesting stuff similar to the show. If there happens to be a ring on the Orchid station then that would be it ;-)

Stay tuned for the fourth and final page of the Hidden Land story from the book!

Scans of Mystery Tales 40 comic as seen on Lost - Page 2

Scan of the Mystery Tales 40 comic from Lost - Page 2Here's the second page of "The Hidden Land" story from the Mystery Tales 40 comic book seen on Lost 4x11 Cabin Fever.

After reading it we have more interesting facts:

  • It's made more obvious that Mr.Castin (Fred's boss) has a completely unhappy life full of miseries despite of his fortune.
  • Mr. Castin began the rising of his empire, after being LOST in Tibet, while he was working as a photographer for a Museum.
  • Fred find out such an odd ring in Mr.Castin's office.

What kind of power this ring provides? What happened to Mr.Castin while he was LOST in Tibet? Will some ring appear on the last season? Is the ring a metaphore?

Since one page per day its not enough for you, lost-junkies, we are going to post also the 3rd page today.

Follow us on twitter to know when the 3rd page is posted, stay tuned!

Mystery Tales 40 comic - Page 1A promise is a promise so here you have the first page of "The Hidden Land" story of the Mystery Tales 40 comic book seen on Lost 4x11 Cabin Fever.

After reading this first page some interesting and intriguing stuff came to our minds:

  • The main character Fredd Phipps works as a bookkeeper, as the Lost character John Locke did.
  • His boss, Mr. Castin, is a succesful bussines man ( like Charles Widmore? ), but has such an unhappy life despite all its money: the same thing that happened with Hugo Reyes.
  • Fredd Phipps reminds us somehow to Ben Linus, doesn't he?

What do you think about it? Any hypothesis? We are looking forward to reading them all.

Stay tunned for the second Mystery Tales 40 scan page coming tomorrow.

We finally got it!

Wednesday, 21 de May del 2008 on 17:32

This morning at 10:08 it just happened: a FedEx guy arrived with the most wanted package ever.

As John Locke said,The island gives you what you need, so finally we have it.

Since today has been a busy day at the office, we weren't able to scan the whole comic book yet. The only thing we have made for the moment is taking some pictures of ourselves opening the package, and a scan of the first frame.

Proud Mystery Tales 40 owners

Our idea is to share the contents of the comic book with all the lost-addicts in the net, while adding some comments about the similarities with the TV show.

Here you have the first frame of THE HIDDEN LAND story from the 'Lost' comic book:

Just a hint: There are vans and spiders on it. Just kidding.

We are looking forward to share it with you, there are several perturbing things that must be commented and debated.

Stay tunned for the scans of the Mystery Tales 40 comic book.

About this blog

The Mystery Tales #40 Lost blog

This is the blog of some Lost-obssesed friends trying to know more about that intriguing comic book that Richard Alpert showed to a young John Locke in Lost's 4x11 episode. It's the 40th issue of the Mystery Tales collection, from 1956, and the cover shows so many similarities with Lost's story's possible future for us to think it may contain key details on the show's plot.
